How TikTok Ruined Creativity
Everyone’s now the same
Ever Since the release of this app back in 2018, it has been evolving constantly every single week with either new Updates, changed design, added features and so on. But through out the time, it started slowly but surely feeling more lazy and wanting to leach off itself more and more. Allow me to explain…
Back in 2013 when vine was created, it revolutionized short form content with the brilliant idea of giving the users 6 seconds of pure raw footage to create whatever type of video they want. Due to the lack of resources and tools to help the creators, it lead to the most creative and iconic 6 second clips that will live on forever. There were no added gimmicks or things such as : green screen, sound effects, captions, duets etc. Videos were all about simplicity. Fast forward 10 years later, everyone is just following trends. Everyone is copying every video they see and implement it exactly like it is on their own.
Not to mention, a very big chunk of tiktoks that you watch on the daily basis are originally YouTube videos or TV shows that have been republished without permission right on the app with a short caption like : “you won’t believe what she said at the end 😂”
It’s funny because for an app that was specifically designed and engineered to be the next big thing in social media and how it’s gonna revolutionize short form content. It ended up making it much worse and much more boring.
There’s a reason why you need subway surfers playing in the bottom half of the screen to keep your attention on it.
I talk about it more on my YouTube video you can watch it here :
