Nobody Steals Ideas Anymore

Plagiarism is a pretty big problem in the past decades, especially in the business world. Having your idea stolen was always such a concern that there was a business plan that is separated from the original business plan dedicated purely towards protecting the secrets and the ideas of the company from any outsiders.

Fast forward to 2024 no one cares anymore.

Allow me to explain.

Free money? No thanks!

You see, we’re at a stage in life where even a random 12 year old you meet at the candy shop can have such a busy schedule with classes, courses, side hustling and you would purely feel confused by that, as you should.

So, it has reacted to a point where for so many people, if they got offered such an amazing opportunity to work on and skyrocket their careers, they would STILL chose to stick with what they already have going on in their lives because why would they even bother with anything else.

Think about it: we’re living in times where even middle schoolers have jam-packed schedules. A random 12-year-old you meet could probably tell you all about their side hustle, their class projects, and their weekend coding boot camps. You almost feel like you should be asking them for career advice. Everyone’s just… busy.

This nonstop hustle culture has brought us to an unexpected place: no one really wants to steal your business idea anymore. Not because it isn’t good — heck, it might even be brilliant. But let’s be real: who’s got the time? Most people today, even if handed a golden business idea on a silver platter, would be like, “Thanks, but I’ve already got ten other things on my plate, so… pass?”

And it’s not just the busyness — it’s this whole “do-it-my-way” attitude. People don’t want to copy; they want their own stories, their own stamp on things. There’s almost this unsaid rule: sure, take inspiration, but full-on idea-snatching? That’s so last decade. Plus, let’s admit it: there’s a certain pride in creating your own thing. It’s like cooking from scratch instead of ordering takeout — you just feel better about it (and you don’t need to credit anyone else for it).

So, if you’re one of those people afraid to talk about your idea at a café in case someone overhears and makes off with it, relax. These days, someone’s more likely to wish you good luck than to steal your startup idea. The real risk? Probably just running out of steam before you actually make it happen because, well, we’re all kind of overloaded.

In 2024, the real danger isn’t that someone will swipe your idea — it’s that you’ll lose focus before it has a chance to come to life.
