oh god

We’ve all been through this on multiple occasions when we left all our studies for last minute (like always) but then we realize there a memorization part that requires you to know information by heart and for me personally that’s like the worst part of studying anything.

I’ve always struggled with learning off definitions or rules and I have learnt that it’s a struggle for many more people. And it’s not just students but also adults of all ages, different people have different memory capabilities so it’s fully understandable that some people can actually spend hours trying to study for that one exam and not do well since they might be using the wrong methods and they can approach this task differently. So without further ado;

These are 5 methods you can use to help memorize better & faster :

1. Break It Down Into Smaller Chunks

Rather than attempting to memorize large amounts of information all at once, break it down into smaller, more manageable chunks. Focus on one concept or section at a time and make sure you understand it fully before moving on. This helps with better comprehension and retention.

2. Use Mnemonic Devices

Mnemonics are memory aids that help you remember information by associating it with something more memorable. For example, you can create acronyms, rhymes, or visual imagery to connect the information you’re studying with something familiar or easier to recall.

3. Teach Someone Else

One of the most effective ways to solidify your understanding and memory of a topic is to teach it to someone else. By explaining the concepts in your own words, you reinforce your own understanding and identify any knowledge gaps. Teaching someone else also helps you remember the information better since you have to articulate it clearly.

4. Create Visual Aids

Visual aids, such as diagrams, mind maps, or flowcharts, can be powerful tools for memory retention. They help you visualize the relationships between different concepts and create a visual representation of the information, making it easier to remember and recall.

5. Use Spaced Repetition

Spaced repetition is a learning technique that involves reviewing information at increasing intervals over time. Instead of cramming all your studying into one session, review the material at regular intervals, with longer gaps between each session. This method takes advantage of the spacing effect, which suggests that information is better retained when it’s reviewed repeatedly over time.

These are some of the best personal methods I know and have adapted to use through my years of studying, but just remember that everyone has different learning preferences, so it’s essential to find the techniques that work best for you. Experiment with these approaches and adjust them to fit your learning style and the nature of the studies you’re trying to memorize. Oh and fuck medicine or biology because you would find me in my grave before I go in my room and study what every singly tiny bone is called in a damn frog.

Thanks for reading, my name is Ahed and I’m an 18 year old freshman in the University Of Debrecen in central Europe studying Computer Science Engineering. I created this Magazine to document my college years and give my advice and tips on personal current experiences for others to find useful. make sure to clap :)
