*My brain going 200 Mph*

Overthinking during your university days comes with the syllabus when you register, doesn’t matter which major. Being relaxed is a skill that needs training especially during these times. I chose this article because I suffer greatly from this issue. I feel like I learned it from my older brother but gradually I continued the path on my own. It’s a stressful time isn’t it ? being in school, balancing social life with academics, having to chose your own meal…3 times every single day I mean COME ON. But most importantly deciding your future and what that lane will look like.

Me personally, I’m in both situations where I know exactly what I want to do & also have no idea at all what I’m gonna do when I graduate. And the people around me notice that. I’m the type of person that would stare into the wall mid-conversation and just get lost in my thoughts about what Job I wanna get and how I will get it in 3 years. I mean it doesn’t make sense and gives me a sense of anxiety I really don’t welcome in my life, since I really like having peace in my mind. This problem started since I started university and seeing how all those smart students are getting internships, jobs, teaching positions in the same university and I’m here still struggling with calculus and either I should order or eat that block of cheese I have in the fridge for dinner.

So, as 2024 was around the corner, I grabbed a pen and a sheet of paper that I will keep in my wallet wherever I go and I wrote down 3 things that I will keep in mind. Here are the 3 points and why I wrote them..

1- Speak Fluently

I’m a student in a foreign European country and my native languages are English and Arabic. So learning the language of the country (Hungarian) is very essential for my future career since I’m planning to stay in these lands for the near future and build a name for myself. But I was a little conflicted since only a single country speaks this language when at the same time I have a language such as German which is spoken in multiple different countries and is more abroad. But after ALOT of reconsideration, I decided I will keep learning Hungarian which lead me to conclude a big part of my future in a sense of where I will start my career geographically.

2- Lead the Path, Friends

I said it before and I will say it again many times. Connections will always be your number 1 priority right next to your studies. At the end of the day we’re human beings. God created us in a way where teamwork is the only solution for most of our personal problems. But it’s not about the quantity, rather than the quality of those relationships. No matter how well you study and how high your GPA is. Some random fellow named mike that has a friend working in the same company you applied for will get the job before you easily since he has a friend he used to drink shots with at the bar and then eat pizza from that one pizza place around the corner rated 1 star because the food is that bad but there’s no other option at 4 AM. Even though this has literally nothing to do with his major or the job, he made a friend that lead him to have a stable career, Very simple.

Ps : I would suggest that you be with quality friends that also match the personality, not only for the purpose of using them to help you find a living. There are plenty of students in every university on the face of earth, so chose wisely and don’t make anyone feel like you’re with them only to use them but never ask about their day. I’m sure you also wouldn’t feel happy if someone did that to you right ?

3-Make Them Smile, They Deserve it

I want nothing more in this world than to make my family proud. My parents are my most valuable treasure in this world, and I want nothing more than to make them as proud as they can be. This one doesn’t have any practical value. It’s just a reminder for me not to fuck up, and no matter what happens I’ll make it work :)
